Markets to Target
The hotel caters to a wide range of markets and can be classed according to the markets to which it aims to attract customers. Business, airport, suites, residential, resort, timeshare, casino, convention, and conference hotels are all common types of markets.
Business Hotels: The most common hotel type, these hotels cater primarily to business travellers and are usually located in downtown or business districts. Although business hotels cater largely to corporate travellers, they also appeal to tour groups, individual visitors, and small conference groups. Complimentary newspapers, morning coffee, free local phone calls, and breakfast are some of the services offered by business hotels.
Hotels Near the Airport
Business travellers, airline passengers with long layovers or cancelled flights, and airline crews or workers are frequent targets for these hotels. Some hotels may provide complimentary transportation between the hotel and the airport. Some airport hotels charge guests by the hour rather than the standard daily night rate.
Hotels with Suites
These are the most recent trends in the hotel sector, as well as the fastest-growing segments. There is a living area and a separate bedroom in such hotels. Suite hotels appeal to professionals such as accountants, lawyers, businesspeople, and executives since they can work and entertain in a separate space from their bedrooms.
Hotels with a Long Stay Policy
Extended stay hotels are comparable to suite hotels, although they frequently include cooking facilities. These motels are for long-term visitors who wish to stay longer than a week but don’t want to spend money on hotel accommodations.
Serviced Apartments/Residential Hotels: Serviced Apartments/Residential Hotels offer long-term or permanent lodging to guests. Guests usually sign a leasing agreement with the hotel for a period ranging from one month to a year. Living room, bedroom, kitchen, private balcony, washing machines, kitchen utensils, and other amenities are common in rooms. Unlike hotels, serviced apartments only offer one housekeeping service each week.
Resort hotels are frequently found in the mountains, on an island, or in other exotic areas far away from towns. Recreational facilities, landscapes, golf, tennis, sailing, skiing, and swimming are all available at these hotels. Guest experiences at resort hotels are delightful and memorable, which encourages guests to return to the resort.
Bed & Breakfast / Homestays: These are private homes with rooms converted into overnight accommodations, ranging in size from one to ten. They’re sometimes referred to as ‘Home Stays.’ The B&B’s owner normally stays on site and is in charge of serving breakfast to the guests.
Timeshare | Vacation Rentals: Timeshare hotels are a new form or segment of the hospitality business. These hotels are often known as “Vacation-interval” hotels. Guests at timeshare hotels purchase ownership of accommodations for a set length of time. The management organisation that runs the hotel may also rent out the unit to these owners.
The term “casino hotel” refers to a hotel that offers gambling services. Although the casino’s food and beverage operations are magnificent, they are secondary to and supportive of the casino’s operations.
Conference and Convention Centers: These hotels specialise in hosting meetings and conferences as well as providing overnight accommodations for attendees. In addition, they offer video conferencing, audiovisual equipment, business services, variable seating arrangements, and a flipchart, among other things. These hotels are generally found outside of major cities and offer amenities such as golf, swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness centres, and spas.
Guesthouse or pension
These are particularly popular with travellers who don’t want to stay in a large hotel with a lot of amenities they may never use and instead prefer a more intimate setting that costs less and feels like home.
Hotel in the city
Both business travellers and vacationers stay in city hotels. Tourists frequently require a hotel near the city’s centre, convenient for sightseeing but not necessarily expensive, whereas business travellers may require a hotel with appropriate facilities in addition to a convenient location.
Motels
As the number of private car owners has grown in recent years, motels have seen an increase in business. A motel is a hotel that caters mostly to motorists and is conveniently positioned near a major highway.
